September 2014: The Neurophenols team will presenting at the BENEFIQ, an international forum on health ingredients, which will be held on September 24-25th 2014 in Québec City.
Juin 2014: Alexandre Dal-Pan, Post-doc researcher at INAF, has participated at ISANH Congress at Lisbonne, the june 5th 2014.
December 2013: Nutrineuro laboratory has participated at the last meeting of the Institute of Nutrition Aquitaine Québec (INAQ), the december 10th 2013, in Bordeaux.
October 2013: Julien Bensalem, ACTIV’INSIDE PhD student linked to NUTRINEURO laboratory, won a Young Investigator Award at the " 6th International Congress on Polyphenols and Health" (ICPH6), in Buenos Aires (Argentina), the october 19th 2013.
May 2013: The Neurophenols Project was awarded for the Prix Agrimip des Lycéens 2013. This award is given to honor collaborative projects between scientific, technological, industrial and organizational large groups and academic research, in France (Aquitaine, Bretagne, Pays de la Loire) and Canada (Québec).
Research
The Neurophenols project brings together more than 30 professionals including 22 scientists and engineers focused on research. These scientists are grouped into different cells, each working on a specific part of the project.

"My goal is to elucidate the mechanisms of action of botanical polyphenols selected for neuroprotection. My analysis focuses on the antioxidant and neuroprotective potential of the polyphenolic compounds. Effects on the activity of the nuclear transcription factors implicated in cellular defense and sensitive to intracellular redox potential are also studied.
Numerous laboratory experiments we conducted have allowed us to discover that the various polyphenolic compounds induce a wide variety of interesting cellular effects, particularly on nerve cells. Therefore these molecules present a great potential in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases."

"Recent studies show that glial cells, in particular microglial cells, by the induction of inflammatory process, are important actors in brain aging and neuropathology. We thus study the polyphenols anti-inflammatory activities, mostly their capacity to inhibit nitric oxide, reactive oxygen species and cytokines production, by an in vitro approach (microglial cells culture). We also assess for potential role of polyphenolic molecule in the modulation of signalling pathways involved in microglia inflammatory mechanisms."
